Health Information
The Curly Coalition is dedicated to producing healthy Curly-Coated Retrievers. All dogs used for breeding are screened for genetic diseases and are guaranteed to hold clearances. Copies are provided upon request.

In addition to screening and monitoring of the sire and dam, we monitor all puppies as they grow in your home, which provides us future knowledge in breeding healthy animals.

Overall the Curly Coated Retriever is relatively a healthy breed. As with all breeds of dog, there some health problems associated with the breed.
They include some of the following:
  • Bloat
  • Hip Dysplasia

    Some less common health problems include:
  • SAS (Sub-aortic Stenosis)
  • PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy)
  • Epilepsy
  • Cataracts
  • Cancer
  • Auto-immune disorders
